The holiday season is here and that means gift giving and gatherings. Whether you love a quick cup of coffee yourself or you want to be able to serve one to guests, you can’t really go wrong with a Keurig. As someone who already has an espresso machine, French press and an AeroPress, it’s safe to say I like to vary my methods. I also keep a Keurig K-Mini Plus on hand for those times when I need a quick cup for myself or a friend. And right now, you too can pick one up for just $40 at Woot, a screaming deal since it’s regularly priced at $108. That’s $68 off.

As pod coffee makers go, the Keurig K-Mini Plus single serve produces a decent cup of coffee — better than a cup of regular brew, in my opinion, and my coffee snob friends agree. If you’re the type that eschews flavored coffees but someone else in your household loves them (or vice versa) you can get a variety pack of the pods. You can also get cocoa or tea pods.

Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money.

The Keurig K-Mini plus single serve is tiny! It is only 5 inches wide which makes it really easy to store when not in use. You can make 6- to 12-ounce cups. You do need to add fresh water for each brew because the reservoir is small but I think this makes a better cup of coffee anyway.

This striking deal is on Woot, one of Amazon’s subsidiaries which offers free standard shipping for Prime members. Right now standard delivery says arrival will be approximately Dec. 12 (depending on where you live, of course) or you can opt for faster shipping.

Why this deal matters

At just $40, it’s hard to find a Keurig for this price, let alone a nice compact one that makes a quality brew. The size makes it perfect for dorms or small apartments, making it a great gift. Saving over $60 on the regular price makes it well worth buying one and maybe two. (Note: Woot limits your purchase to three).

On August 31, 2012, a long filament of solar material that had been hovering in the Sun’s atmosphere, the corona, erupted out into space at 4:36 p.m. EDT. The CME traveled at over 900 miles per second. It did not travel directly toward Earth, but did connect with Earth’s magnetic environment, or magnetosphere, with a glancing blow, causing aurora to appear on the night of September 3.
